Climate Change is a Secondary IV course in the Science and Technology program, intended to develop learners’ ability to deal with situations relating to key climate change issues.

A better understanding of these issues will enable them to take action to reduce their carbon footprint and raise public awareness of climate change as part of a project they will carry out.

Duration: 50 hours (2 units)
Content

The learning guide is composed of 12 learning situations, three of which are experimental activities.

The issues studied concern:

  • disruptions in the carbon cycle and the increase in the greenhouse effect caused by human activities;
  • acidification of the oceans;
  • the melting of the glaciers leading to flooding;
  • increased frequency of droughts and extreme climate events;
  • disturbances in terrestrial and aquatic biomes, which affect various animal and plant species.
Evaluation

Passing mark for scored activities: 60%

Passing mark for certification examination: 60%
