In keeping with the objectives of the Science and Technology Program of Study, SOFAD offers classroom and distance learning resources that are designed to help learners build scientific knowledge and develop an organized working approach, as well as enhance their reasoning ability, intuition, creativity and critical thinking skills through systematic observation, questioning, experimentation and the use of specialized language. Our learning guides and complementary multimedia resources help learners master the language of science and technology so they can process information and find connections among data as well as interpret, analyze and manage situational problems that foster critical thinking.

  • Biology

  • Chemistry

    In keeping with the objectives of the Chemistry Program of Study (Diversified Basic Education Program, Secondary V – grade 11), SOFAD offers resources that are designed to help learners consolidate and enrich their scientific knowledge, particularly with respect to the fundamental concepts related to the chemical properties of gases, the energetic and kinetic aspects of chemical reactions, and chemical equilibria. These resources are also designed to develop or strengthen the following subject-specific competencies:

    • Makes the most of his/her knowledge of chemistry
    • Communicates ideas relating to questions involving chemistry, using the languages associated with science and technology

    In keeping with the objectives of the Physics Program of Study (Diversified Basic Education Program, Secondary V – grade 11), SOFAD offers resources that are designed to help learners consolidate and enrich their scientific knowledge, particularly with respect to the compulsory concepts related to geometric optics, kinematics, dynamics and mechanical energy transformations.They are also designed to develop or reinforce the following subject-specific competencies:

    • Makes the most of his/her knowledge of physics
    • Communicates ideas relating to questions involving chemistry, using the language oscience and technology

    In keeping with the objectives of the Science and Technology Program of Study (Diversified Basic Education Program, Secondary III and IV – grades 9 and 10), SOFAD offers resources that are designed to help learners integrate their knowledge of fundamental scientific concepts related tThe Living World (human biology, ecology), The Material World (chemistry, physics), The Earth and Space (geology, astronomy), and The Technological World (biotechnology, engineering). These resources are also designed to develop or reinforce the following subject-specific competencies:
