SOFAD scholarships celebrate the progress and achievements of three adult learners who earned at least three credits through distance courses in 2024 in Adult Education (AE) or Vocational Training (VT) in 2024. In addition, a new scholarship will be awarded to highlight the efforts of an adult student in francization having successfully completed level V of the program, either in person or through distance education.
For the winning students, these credits will have contributed to the completion of a secondary school or vocational studies diploma (SSD, DVS or AVS), a post-secondary education studies diploma or have successfully completed level 5 of the Francization program.
Three scholarships, worth $1500 each, will be granted to two outstanding students, one in Adult Education (AE), the other in vocational studies (DVS). The scholarship winners will receive their awards in April 2025, and public announcements will be made during the AQIFGA Convention and the joint TRÉAQ-CPFGPE Symposium. In doing so, SOFAD wishes to highlight the exceptional contribution of various adult education stakeholders to the success of students who have chosen distance education.
To be eligible, a candidate must:
Students in AE and VT:
You have earned a secondary school diploma (SSD), a diploma of vocational studies (DVS), or an attestation of vocational specialization (AVS) between January 1st and December 31st, 2024, and you have earned at least three credits toward your diploma through distance education during that period;
You already hold a SSD or DVS and have earned at least three credits in prerequisites for post-secondary studies through distance education between January 1st and December 31st, 2024.
Students in Francization:
We encourage Adult education centres to inform all their distance education personnel and eligible students about the SOFAD scholarships.
A centre may submit the names of no more than two candidates.
Selection criteria will be applied by SOFAD. Each centre is nonetheless free to submit the names of candidates it perceives as outstanding, regardless of the criteria, because of their achievements in distance education, the impact of distance education in the pursuit of their academic and life goals, and their ability to express the potential of distance education.
Each centre is also free to apply whatever selection process it deems appropriate to identify the students most likely to succeed in competition with applicants from all regions of the province.
Download the application form.
Adult education centres are encouraged to assist students in preparing their applications. Only complete applications will be considered.
