Algebraic and Graphical Modelling in a Fundamental Context is the first mathematics course in the Science option of Secondary IV. The aim of this course is to develop the learner’s ability to handle situations that require an algebraic or graphical model to express a relationship between quantities.

Duration: 50 hours (2 units)
Content

The learner will learn about three new real functions:

  • step functions;
  • greatest integer functions;
  • second degree polynomial functions.

The learner will complete their learning by expanding their knowledge of:

  • the properties of straight lines on a Cartesian plane;
  • solving systems of equations;
  • algebraic manipulations.
Evaluation
  • Passing mark for scored activity: 60%
  • Passing mark for supervised ministry examination: 60%
